L2OVE: Listening to Others Valuing Everyone

L2OVE: Listening to Others Valuing Everyone, 2024, was a proactive framework of listening circles and dialogue developed in collaboration between Dorit Cypis and Jefferey Stewart at University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB).

Over the semester they met complex campus tensions triggered on October 7, and since—further complicated by the weaponization of anti-Semitism in the USA. Their intention was to recognize all members of the UCSB community—no matter political position or cultural difference—and to model transformative engagement with conflict.

At the conclusion of this program, they presented an intentional public conversation: Rula + Dorit, 2 Semitic women, one Palestinian the other Jewish Israeli, both born in the shadows of 1948, modeling what generative dialogue can look like. Rula and Dorit initiated their conversation at Brown University in 2010.
